Food Nostalgia in Animation
Bringing Individuality and Diversity to Narrative
Food Nostalgia plays a vital role in how storytellers can communicate their experiences or feelings in the field of animation. When triggered, food nostalgia can console and comfort individuals by bridging the past to the present. But if the same food nostalgia goes overboard, it can bring about unhealthy effects. Through very deliberate decisions in art direction and narrative, storytellers can use food nostalgia to enhance the narrative by adding individuality and diversity to the field of animation.
Hi! I am Tehniyat Shaikh, an animation artist that couldn't choose between 2D and 3D. I am originally from India and currently residing in Atlanta as a full time freelancer, turning ideas and scripts into animations. My multi-disciplinary skillset allows me to pitch the best visuals to my clients while not being confined to one medium.
What background you ask?
I completed my MFA in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019, during which I learned a variety of ways to help make a story successful at connecting with the people and making them FEEL. I worked on mediums like 2D, 3D, 2.5D and Virtual Reality, accomplishing various roles such as animator, character designer, storyboard artist, illustrator, previz artist, animatic editor, motion designer as well as a director of an award winning 3D animated short film.
In my free time, I like to volunteer for organizations like ASIFA South, participate in art shows meeting new local artists including at Out Front Theater, I love travelling, exploring new places and photograph stories around me. My friends describe me as a good listener, trustworthy, chill and a patient human being (and I didn't even have to pay them).
